More about the release

Pr0707yp3 C0pp3r P0r7@l is a digital animation framed by a 3D-printed structure, merging Woodland School aesthetics with shamanic vision and future-facing tech. The work presents a glowing portal—a copper-framed threshold into the spirit realm, thick with smoke and light. A shaman figure leans in, face lit by awe and recognition. Their eyes reflect visions of kinship: animals, ancestors, stars, and strangers—connected through the web of gidinawendimin (we are all related). This moment of revelation sits between memory and imagination, ceremony and simulation. The use of copper—miskwaabik—grounds the piece in Anishinaabe tradition, while the digital format pushes it toward Indigenous futurism. As a mixed Ojibwe and Settler artist, I build this portal as a prototype—for reconnecting, for remembering, for seeing beyond the smoke.
